How do I get a PCPLD library card?
Welcome! Any person living within the Poplar Creek Public Library District (PCPLD) boundaries may obtain a library card by presenting a photo ID with their current address clearly indicated. If the ID does not show a current address, additional proof of residency is required. A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the application for anyone under the age of eighteen. Library cards automatically renew every three years if there are no blocks on the account.

1. Acceptable forms of photo identification include:
- Valid State ID
- Valid Driver’s License
- Firearm Owner Identification card (FOID)
- Passport (bring proof of residency)
- School ID (bring proof of residency)
- Military ID (bring proof of residency)
2. Acceptable forms of residency verification include:
- Current lease/mortgage
- Current utility bill or another current bill
- Auto registration or insurance registration
- Property tax bill
- Voter’s registration
- Mail delivered within 60 days
3. Photo ID:
Upon applying for a library card, a photo is taken and attached to the library card account. Photos will be updated periodically.

Can I get a library card online?
PCPLD offers eCards, which are issued to residents living within the library district who register online. eCards allow access to the library’s online resources such as eBooks, streaming content, and databases. eCards are valid for one year and are nonrenewable. Patrons may apply in-person to change their eCards to a full access card to allow check out of all library materials, computer use and Studio1405 services. Once your application has been processed you will receive your library card barcode number and password. You can apply for an eCard online.
Can I use my PCPLD library card at other public libraries in Illinois?
Yes! Reciprocal borrowing allows patrons with a valid, active library card from a participating Illinois public library to borrow materials from other participating public libraries. Cardholders must be in good standing with their home library. Each library may have collections, items, or services not available to reciprocal borrowers, so we suggest calling a public library to confirm any details before your visit to avoid any disappointment.
What if I have a library card from another public library in the area? Can I use it at PCPLD?
If you have a valid library card from another Illinois public library, you may be eligible for reciprocal borrowing privileges at the Poplar Creek Public Library District.
To apply, visit PCPLD and bring:
- Your current home library card
- A valid photo ID
Reciprocal borrowing privileges are valid for one year or until your home library card expires, whichever comes first.
What if I lose my library card?
If you lose your library card, please call any PCPLD location as soon as possible. You are responsible for all materials checked out on your library card until its loss is reported. Replacement cards are $1.00. Please visit any PCPLD location to fill out a new library card application. You’ll need to show a current, valid ID with your name, photo and address.
How do I renew my library card?
PCPLD library cards are valid for three years. Library cards will automatically renew every three years if there are no blocks on the cardholder’s account.
Do you charge fines for late items?
No! We are pleased to report that the PCPLD is fine-free. However, some fees may still apply. Please view our Fee Policy.
