Extended Access allows enrolled individuals inside the Sonya Crawshaw Library Branch, without library staff present. Patrons who enroll in this service can independently browse and check out items, access public computers, use free Wi-Fi, fax and print during specified hours. Patrons who would like to use this service can register in person at the Sonya Crawshaw Branch or the Main Library. Scheduled to begin August 2021.

Extended Access allows enrolled Poplar Creek Public Library cardholders access to the Sonya Crawshaw Branch, without staff present, in order to browse the library collection, check out items, use public computers, Wi-Fi and the study areas.
How do I enroll in this service?
Enroll in this service in person at either the Sonya Crawshaw Branch or the Main Library. Patrons need to bring a valid photo ID. If you need to register for a Poplar Creek Public Library card, please bring proof of current address and a photo ID.
Are patrons able to access the Library any time they like?
Extended Access will only be available during certain times of the day. Please see the following chart for the Sonya Crawshaw Branch Staffed Hours and the Extended Access hours.

Who is eligible to participate in this service?
This service is only available to Poplar Creek Public Library cardholders who are in good standing and are 18 years of age or older.
What if I or someone in the building needs help?
Call the Main Library at 630.837.6800. You must use your personal device. In the event of an emergency, patrons are to call 9-1-1.
How long will the permission to use Extended Access last?
Permission needs to be renewed when your library card expires. You can choose at any time not to renew Extended Access and revert to a regular library card account.
Could an enrolled patron bring another person with them inside the Sonya Crawshaw Branch?
Only minors with an enrolled parent or guardian are allowed admittance without enrolling.
What about security?
Patrons must sign an Extended Access Agreement. Security cameras monitor the building throughout the day.
