BOOKS & MORE
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a program that encourages quality reading for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students co-sponsored by Gail Borden Public Library, Bartlett Public Library, and Poplar Creek Public Library. Throughout the season, emphasis is placed on the fun of participation, teamwork, and the satisfaction that comes from reading. Each year, a list of books is prepared, teams are formed, and meets are scheduled. At each meet, teams earn points by answering questions based on the current year's books. Each season consists of 6 rounds, starting in mid-October and ending in mid-March. At the end of each season, we host a Final Event to celebrate and recognize team achievements and host an author or illustrator to give a presentation to the teams.
