The Poplar Creek Public Library District has candidate election packets available for pick up beginning Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Main Library located at 1405 S. Park Avenue in the Administrative Offices, located on the 2nd floor. You must submit a petition packet to get on the April 6, 2027 ballot. All directions and materials will be included in the packet.*

The Library will have (3) Trustee 6-year terms up for election on the April 6, 2027 ballot.

To be eligible for a Trustee position, you must live in the Library District, be a legal U.S Citizen, 18 years and older, and a registered voter. The Board is non-partisan, and members are required to attend monthly board meetings. Trustees are elected to represent tax payers, elected officials as applicable, and the people served by the Library District. The general population elects the Board of Trustees. This Board has full authority over the governance of the Library. This Board hires the Library Director, sets policies, and works closely with the Director in establishing and presenting the Library’s budget to the District. Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as making sure the Library has adequate resources to advance its mission. Board members provide foresight, oversight, and insight from their experience. The Library has various committees for Trustees to serve on if they wish, and liaison positions to other government bodies. This is an elected, voluntary, non-compensatory position.

The Poplar Creek Public Library District covers two counties: Cook and DuPage, and includes parts of Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Keeneyville, Schaumburg, and Streamwood. The District represents over 70,000 residents.

Independent candidates for the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election may circulate nominating petitions beginning on August 25, 2026.

Completed packets may be filed in the Main Library’s Administrative Office during regular business hours, no earlier than 9 a.m. on November 16, 2026 and no later than 5 p.m. on November 23, 2026.
